Abstract:
Colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the United States. Liver disease affects 25% of the population worldwide. It is suggested that the chronic inflammation in the liver may drive the initiation of colorectal cancer. This case report involves a 75-year-old woman that is diagnosed with a partially-obstructing transverse colon cancer and cirrhosis following an admission to the emergency department for abdominal pain. The patient had a long-time history of metabolic associated steatohepatitis, which concluded in a cirrhotic state before the colorectal cancer diagnosis.
