Abstract:

We report the case of a 7-year-old girl with no prior medical history, presenting with a right cervical mass evolving over 7 months. Imaging revealed a parapharyngeal lesion bulging into the oropharynx and displacing adjacent structures. Surgical excision was performed via cervicotomy, necessitating the sacrifice of the hypoglossal nerve (cranial nerve XII). Histopathological analysis confirmed a diagnosis of schwannoma. This case highlights the challenges in managing rare parapharyngeal tumors in children and the functional implications of surgical intervention.
