Abstract:
This report presents a case of an older male patient diagnosed with depression and insomnia who was hospitalized on September 25th, 2022. Despite the long-term administration of venlafaxine (150 mg) and clonazepam (2 mg), the patient exhibited poor therapeutic responses. Consequently, low-dose quetiapine was introduced to enhance therapeutic outcomes and promote sleep. Following a gradual increase in the dosage of quetiapine to 200 mg over a period of 25 days, the patient experienced an abrupt onset of hypotension shock and loss of consciousness. Subsequent administration of epinephrine (2 mg) and dopamine (20 mg) successfully restored the patient’s consciousness and stabilized his vital signs. Quetiapine was subsequently reduced, and no further incidents of a similar nature were reported during the follow-up period
