Abstract:
Gastric small cell carcinoma (GSCC) is a rare and aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. We present the Third case of GSCC with a fungating mass ever reported in the literature. This case report presents the clinical course of a 60-year-old African American male who initially presented with symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and was subsequently diagnosed with GSCC. The patient's history of smoking, gastritis, and the presence of a fungating growth in the gastric cardia during endoscopic examination raised suspicion for malignancy. Biopsy results confirmed the diagnosis of GSCC. This case highlights the importance of early detection and emphasizes the need for a comprehensive approach in managing GSCC.
