Abstract:

Liver cirrhosis (LC) has always been considered as a progressive disease that is difficult to cure. After entering the decompensation period, the disease worsens rapidly, leading to a rapid decline in the quality of life of patients, and a high mortality rate in the short term. Tai Chi Chuan (TCC) can assist in the treatment of many diseases, but there are few reports that it is helpful to LC. This article reports that this patient was diagnosed with LC and decompensated symptoms at the age of about 40 years old, but he survived until 98 years old. During this period, except for a limited number of medical treatments, the patients learned TCC and practiced it all the time. By reviewing part of the healing process and the experience of practicing TCC, we believe that the long-term and uninterrupted TCC exercise may have played a key role. Furthermore, regulating the cognitive network of the brain, improving microcirculation and activating bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells may be the important reasons why TCC exercise can slow down the progress of LC.
